The volunteer program has been a positive vehicle through which every SOS program has been expanded. The Coordinator of Volunteer Services is responsible for recruiting, interviewing, placing and supervising paraprofessional volunteers. The coordinator is also responsible for developing and conducting a formal training program.

Volunteers participate in a 40-hour training which provides education for all aspects of domestic violence, counseling skills, domestic violence effects on children, the law, policies and procedures, hotline screening, diversity, AIDS and substance abuse.

There are many ways in which to be involved, depending on the agency need, your interests and skills, and availability of time. Your suggestions are always welcome.
